Complete step-by-step guide to test Shopify webhooks during development
Webhook.site provides a temporary public URL to receive and inspect Shopify webhook payloads in real-time.
When you open webhook.site, you'll automatically get a unique URL like:https://webhook.site/xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx
Copy the unique URL from webhook.site (it's shown at the top of the page under "Your unique URL" ).
Manually set the webhook test URL as a secret in your Base44 workspace:
SHOPIFY_WEBHOOK_TEST_URLyour-webhook.site-urlImportant: This secret cannot be set programmatically for security reasons. You must manually add it in the Base44 workspace.
After setting the secret, reinstall your Shopify app to register the webhooks with your webhook.site URL.
Open Shopify Install PageThe app will automatically detect the SHOPIFY_WEBHOOK_TEST_URL secret and register webhooks to that URL.
Go back to your webhook.site workspace to see incoming Shopify webhook payloads in real-time.
Open Your Webhook.site WorkspaceExpected webhooks:
shopify.app.toml and cannot be tested through webhook.site. These are handled declaratively by Shopify.Once you' ve verified webhooks are working correctly:
Production Ready: For production, replace the webhook.site URL with your actual Base44 function endpoint URL.
